Bangladesh scored a big victory over Sri Lanka in the first match of their three-match One Day International (ODI) series. The match took place at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
The Bangladesh team performed excellently, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and experienced batsman Mushfiqur Rahim leading the charge. Shanto scored his third ODI century, hitting 122 runs off 129 balls, while Mushfiqur contributed 73 runs off 84 balls. Their partnership helped Bangladesh secure the win with six wickets to spare.
Bangladesh faced a shaky start, losing three wickets for just 27 runs in the first six overs. However, Shanto and Mahmudullah stabilized the innings with a 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Later, Shanto and Mushfiqur built an impressive 165-run partnership for the fifth wicket, guiding Bangladesh to victory with 32 balls remaining.
Sri Lanka, batting first after winning the toss, struggled against Bangladesh’s pacers. The Bangladeshi bowlers took nine wickets, exploiting the conditions well. Bangladesh’s fielding was also commendable throughout the match.
It was a dominant performance by Bangladesh, setting a strong start to the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
