Australia’s ICC T20 World Cup preparations are buoyed by team camaraderie in Barbados, despite travel delays for key players.
Australia’s final five squad members, including IPL playoff participants, have arrived in Barbados after facing travel disruptions. Captain Pat Cummins lost his luggage during transit, while Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell experienced flight delays in Los Angeles and Miami en route to Barbados. Earlier, Marcus Stoinis missed a warm-up match due to his cricket kit not arriving on time in Trinidad.
Despite these challenges, Australia remains optimistic ahead of their tournament opener against Oman. With all players assembled by Saturday, the team enjoyed a relaxing outing sailing along Barbados’ serene coastline. Spinner Ashton Agar highlighted the refreshing break from their hectic schedules, emphasizing the team’s bond as they watched the sunset together.
“A lot of the boys are coming off a long stint in India for the IPL, so it was really refreshing,” said Agar, reflecting on their time aboard the catamaran. “Marcus Stoinis mentioned how unique our team camaraderie is, sitting together, enjoying each other’s company. It was a great break from World Cup preparations.”
