Today, in Chattogram, Bangladesh wants to win the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka. They want to break their losing streak and win their first bilateral series in almost 10 months.
Bangladesh has struggled in ODIs recently. They last won a series (2-0) against Ireland in May 2023. Since then, they lost to Afghanistan (2-1) and New Zealand (2-0) at home, and again to New Zealand (3-0) away.
This is the 10th bilateral ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh won only one of the previous nine, a 2-1 victory at home in 2021. They also aim to win their second ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka, however, aims to win their fourth consecutive ODI series. They won against Afghanistan twice and Zimbabwe once before facing Bangladesh.
The third ODI starts at 10:00 am, which negates the dew factor. In the previous two matches, the team winning the toss and fielding first won. Bangladesh won the first match by six wickets, and Sri Lanka won the second by three wickets.
In both matches, the chasing team lost three wickets in the early overs. But once the dew settled, batting became easier.
However, in the third ODI, the toss might not be as crucial. Bangladesh’s Mehedi Hasan Miraz is excited about the day match. He said, “We know our conditions well. As it’s a day match, it will benefit us. Toss is a big factor in day-night matches. The team winning the toss gains an advantage.”
