The Tigers are set to take the lead in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka. The match will be held on Monday (March 4) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. This series marks Sri Lanka’s first international assignment of the year.
Bangladesh has been successful in maintaining a consistent performance in the T20 format recently. Since 2022, they have not faced defeat in any bilateral series in this format. Remarkably, they have won four series against UAE, England, Ireland, and Afghanistan. They demonstrated improvement last year with a draw against New Zealand at home.
Bangladesh has played a total of 158 T20 international matches, winning 59, losing 95, and drawing 4. Against Sri Lanka, in the 13 encounters so far, Bangladesh has won 4 and lost 9. The Tigers will aim to enhance their record in this series.
At present, there have been some changes in the Bangladesh squad. Due to an injury crisis for Al-Amin Islam, Zakir Ali Anik has been included in the team.
Probable Bangladesh XI: Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Liton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Soumya Sarkar, Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyadh, Sheikh Mehedi, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shariful Islam.
