Chethan LR Becomes Most Expensive Buy; Mysore Warriors Sign Prasidh Krishna
In an exciting player auction for the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, L Revanna Chethan emerged as the most expensive buy, snapped up by Bengaluru Blasters for INR 8.6 Lakh. The 24-year-old top-order batsman, who impressed with 309 runs for Gulbarga Mystics last season, saw his base price of INR 1 Lakh soar more than eightfold.
Bidding Highlights: Big Spends and Strategic Picks
Chethan’s acquisition highlights the value placed on young, promising talent. Meanwhile, Mysore Warriors made headlines by securing Prasidh Krishna for INR 1 Lakh. Initially listed in Category A with a base price of INR 2 Lakh, Krishna found no takers due to recent injuries. However, Mysore took a chance on him, hoping for a strong comeback.
Shreyas Gopal, a leg-spinning allrounder, became the second most expensive buy, going to Mangaluru Dragons for INR 7.6 Lakh. Off-spinning allrounder K Gowtham and J Suchith, both Category A players, were also significant buys for Mysore Warriors, fetching INR 7.4 Lakh and INR 4.8 Lakh respectively.
Category C Surprises and Emerging Talents
In Category C, Abhilash Shetty, a standout left-arm seamer from the previous season, was a hot commodity. Mangaluru Dragons secured his services for INR 6.3 Lakh. Aneeshwar Gautam, a 21-year-old left-handed allrounder and former India U19 World Cup player, was picked by Hubli Tigers for INR 6.2 Lakh after starting with a base price of INR 50,000.
Macneil Hadley Noronha and Avinash D were among the sought-after players, with Shivamogga Lions securing them for INR 5 Lakh and INR 5.4 Lakh, respectively. These young talents bring fresh energy and potential to their new teams, promising an exciting tournament ahead.
Strategic Spending and Squad Compositions
The auction saw a strategic approach to spending, with each team required to have a minimum of 16 players. Bengaluru Blasters and Mysore Warriors were among the top spenders, ending with minimal remaining budget. In contrast, Shivamogga Lions were the most frugal, retaining INR 4.9 Lakh after the auction.
The final squads reflect a mix of experienced players and fresh faces, setting the stage for a competitive season. Teams have retained key players while also investing in emerging talents, aiming to balance continuity with new strengths.
