Bangladesh’s assistant coach Nic Pothas said the Test team’s batters are young and need time to improve. He compared them to school kids learning a new subject. But others in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) disagree.
Pothas said, “We have a young and inexperienced group. We need to be patient.” He thinks they need time to learn from playing against experienced teams.
But selector Abdur Razzak and BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon are unhappy with the batters’ performance. Razzak said, “They were picked because they can handle such situations.” Papon added, “They know what to do.”
This difference in opinion shows a problem. Pothas thinks the team lost because of their young batters, but others don’t agree. Some batters have played many Test matches already.
In the last match, Sri Lanka’s new player, Kamindu Mendis, did well despite being inexperienced. Maybe Bangladesh should focus more on improving their mindset for Test matches.
