Islamabad United emerged victorious in a nail-biting final, defeating Multan Sultans by two wickets in Karachi. This win marks Islamabad United’s third Pakistan Super League (PSL) title.
In a tense last-over showdown, young Hunain Shah sealed the victory for United with a boundary off the final delivery, chasing down a modest target of 160 runs.
Captain Shadab Khan praised the team effort, highlighting their timely peak performance throughout the league.
Earlier, Multan Sultans posted a total of 159-9 after opting to bat first. Usman Khan’s 57 runs and Mohammad Rizwan’s 26 contributed to their score, but a collapse in the later overs saw them lose wickets quickly.
Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah led the bowling attack for Islamabad, with Wasim taking 5-23 and Naseem grabbing 3-32.
In their chase, Islamabad faced a stumble but Wasim’s calm guidance helped them navigate through the pressure. Martin Guptill’s 50 runs and Azam Khan’s 30 were crucial in securing the win for Islamabad.
The league saw Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators qualify for the playoffs, while Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars were eliminated in the initial round.
