Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman has left Dhaka to join the Chennai Super Kings for the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Excited and looking forward to my new assignment. Heading to Chennai for IPL 2024. Keep me in your prayers so that I can deliver my best,” Mustafizur shared on social media before leaving Dhaka.
Mustafizur has previously played for four IPL teams: Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians.
He updated his social media to announce his safe arrival in India.
The IPL will begin with a match between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Mustafizur is the only Bangladeshi cricketer participating in this year’s IPL.
In a recent match against Sri Lanka, Mustafizur bowled well and took two wickets. However, he had to leave the field due to cramps before completing his full quota of overs.
CSK will be Mustafizur’s fifth IPL team. They will start their campaign on March 22 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. Mustafizur might get a chance to play as CSK’s designated death bowler, Matheesha Pathirana, is injured.
