Rishabh Pant, the talented wicketkeeper-batsman, will be the captain of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. This comes after Pant’s recovery from a serious car accident in 2022.
The club’s chairman and co-owner, Parth Jindal, praised Pant’s courage and boldness in cricket. He expressed the team’s happiness in having Pant back as the captain.
Pant had a car accident near New Delhi in December 2022, which left him with multiple injuries. He underwent surgery and intensive rehabilitation for a damaged knee ligament, wrist, ankle, and back abrasions.
Last year, David Warner replaced Pant as the captain of Delhi Capitals.
There’s hope that Pant will be fit to play for India in the T20 World Cup in June.
Delhi Capitals’ co-owner, Kiran Kumar Grandhi, commended Pant for his hard work during the tough times.
The IPL begins on March 22, with Chennai Super Kings facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match. Delhi Capitals will play against Punjab Kings in their first match on March 23.
The IPL is the richest cricket league globally, benefiting both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and top players.
