India’s captain Rohit Sharma expressed relief as his team secured a spot in the T20 World Cup Super Eights after defeating the United States by seven wickets on Wednesday.
With three wins in three Group A matches, India joins Australia and South Africa in the next stage of the tournament.
Facing a target of 111 runs, India found themselves in a challenging position at 15-2 and then 44-3. However, Suryakumar Yadav’s 50 and Shivam Dube’s 31 led them to victory with 10 balls to spare.
Sharma praised the USA team, acknowledging their progress in cricket and wishing them success.
Despite the defeat, the United States still have a chance to advance to the Super Eights with a game against Ireland on Friday.
