Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, talked about different things before the next cricket series.
He’s been busy playing in a league called Dhaka Premier League with a team called Abahani. Even with his busy schedule, he had a meeting with Tamim Iqbal, another player, to talk about stuff. Then, he spoke to the media about what’s going on. It seems like he’s trying to set things straight and manage everyone’s expectations.
In Bangladesh cricket, people expect a lot from the team and individual players. They also expect everyone to get along well, and even small problems get noticed.
But the team hasn’t been meeting expectations in big tournaments. So, Shanto asked everyone not to expect too much from the upcoming World Cup. He knows that when there’s too much pressure, it’s not good for the team. He wants everyone to know that the team will give their best.
Shanto also supported another player, Mustafizur Rahman, saying that when he plays for Bangladesh, he’s fully committed, even though he’s also playing in a different league called the IPL.
Talking to Tamim was a bit tricky. Tamim hasn’t played for the national team since last year, and it’s not clear if he will play again. But after talking to Shanto, things might change. Shanto said he’s not thinking about bringing Tamim back for the next series against Zimbabwe, but he’s open to it if the team needs him.
Shanto also told Tamim that if he’s fit and wants to play, the team would be happy to have him back. But it’s up to Tamim to decide.
Shanto’s job as captain is important, especially after the last World Cup. How he handles the team in the lead-up to the next T20I World Cup will be crucial.
