Mahmudullah Riyadh and Jakir Ali exited the match with injuries, but Bangladesh couldn’t succeed in winning the match. Riyadh declared the beginning of the match with an unfortunate injury, later passing it on to Jakir. However, despite their efforts, no one could secure a victory for the team. In the last over, Bangladesh lost the match by 3 runs against Sri Lanka.
In the post-match press conference, Sadira Samarawickrama from the Sri Lankan side stated, “Our batting was the X-factor on this pitch. As soon as the match started, the batters showed a good performance. Batting was the X-factor here.”
Samarawickrama said, “First, when I dropped Mahmudullah’s catch, I felt the match was slipping away from our hands. Later, Mahish (Thikshana) took Mahmudullah’s wicket. That was the turning point, I think. Our bowlers bowled really well under pressure. Mahish Thikshana bowled exceptionally. Dasun Shanaka did fantastic in the last over. As a result, the match turned in our favor.”
This indicates that the Sri Lankan team attributes their success to strong batting and exceptional bowling performances, especially in the crucial moments of the match.
