Zimbabwe secured a consolation win over Bangladesh in the final Twenty20 international match in Dhaka. Sikandar Raza’s unbeaten 72 runs and Brian Bennett’s half-century guided Zimbabwe to victory, preventing a 5-0 whitewash by Bangladesh.
Chasing Bangladesh’s total of 157-6, Zimbabwe reached 158-2. Bennett scored 70 runs off 49 balls and also took 2 wickets for 20 runs earlier in the match.
After losing opener Tadiwanashe Marumani early, Bennett and Raza formed a solid partnership, adding 75 runs for the second wicket. Despite Bennett’s dismissal, Raza’s unbeaten innings, despite a muscle injury, ensured Zimbabwe’s victory.
Earlier, Mahmudullah Riyad’s 54 runs and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 36 runs helped Bangladesh recover from a shaky start at 15-3. However, despite their efforts, Bangladesh couldn’t defend their total against Zimbabwe’s strong batting.
Despite Blessing Muzarabani’s two wickets for Zimbabwe, Bangladesh struggled to contain the opposition’s batting onslaught.
In the end, Zimbabwe’s victory provided them with a positive note to end the series, while Bangladesh still finished on top with a 4-1 series win.
